The charitable arm of Australia's largest global insurer has been recognised at the 2017 Research Australia Health and Medical Research Awards, which recognise the outstanding efforts and achievements of teams and individuals who make a difference to lives through their contribution to health and medical research.

QBE Foundation has won the 'Leadership in corporate giving' award for its ongoing support of The Kids' Cancer Project – its charity partner since 2013 – in a commitment further demonstrated through QBE's first-ever three-year partnership deal.

QBE Foundation chair Sally Kincaid said the award was a proud moment for the foundation's work.

“We have had such a wonderful partnership with The Kids’ Cancer Project, supporting the incredible work they do,” Kincaid said. “In that five-year period, the foundation has not only contributed hundreds of hours of volunteer time, but more than $500,000 to fund research that will find better treatments for kids with cancer.”

The awards, now in their 15th year, were announced at a gala event in Melbourne.
