Thousands of runners, joggers, and walkers have turned Brisbane’s pavement to pink to help raise more than $1 million for women with breast cancer.

RACQ’s Lucinda Ross said the RACQ International Women’s Day Fun Run, which aimed to raise awareness and funds for Mater Foundation’s breast cancer research, was a great success, with 15,000 Australians participating in the event. Ross also thanked the volunteers who helped run the event smoothly.

“We were so lucky to be supported by more than 270 volunteers who gave up their Sunday morning to make sure everyone enjoyed the run,” Ross said. “It was also a great help to have the support of QPS to close roads and make sure the track was safe. Most importantly, the day wouldn’t have been the same without the thousands of people who got out there and ran, held fundraisers or donated money to this important cause.”

RACQ is still accepting donations via its International Women’s Day Fun Run website.
