Sedgwick, an international provider of claims management, loss adjusting, and technology-based business solutions, has appointed Sophie Henderson (pictured) as a partner on its forensic accounting services team in Australia.

Who is Sophie Henderson?

Henderson’s career in forensic accounting spans over 14 years, specialising in complex economic loss claims across diverse industries such as insurance and litigation.

Her experience includes handling major business interruption claims for industries like manufacturing, mining, construction, energy, freight, hospitality, retail, warehousing, and recycling. She also deals with claims involving employee dishonesty, fraud, personal injury, fatal accidents, political risk, and product liability.

Henderson’s international experience encompasses assignments and evaluations of large and complex losses in regions, including Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, and South America. She holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Oxford and is a member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

“Sophie’s considerable experience in evaluating large and complex losses and business interruption claims will serve to support the needs of our clients,” said Kimberley Daley, Sedgwick’s executive general manager of professional services in Australia. “Her background in handling economic losses for multimillion-dollar first party insurance claims, including stock and contingent business interruption, subrogated recoveries, reinsurance, and commercial litigation, will benefit the work we do in Australia as we continue to grow our offerings and support demand for forensic accounting services in the market.”

“As I start this new journey in my career with the renowned forensic accounting services team at Sedgwick, I am passionate about mentoring and developing the team in analytical thought and look forward to serving Sedgwick’s clients,” Henderson said.

Sedgwick’s forensic accounting team in Australia comprises over 35 accountants, who operate from seven offices across the country. The team’s expertise covers various sectors, including construction, manufacturing, cyber, and retail.

Henderson’s appointment comes after Dave North confirmed that he will step down from his role of executive chair at the end of June, and Emily Fink took on the role of chief marketing officer.
