Sedgwick, which provides technology-enabled risk, benefits, and integrated business solutions, will expand its Sedgwick University industry advancement program (IAP) to Australia to develop, upskill, and attract the next generation of claims professionals in the country.

Launched in December 2021, Sedgwick University aligns Sedgwick’s in-person and virtual training courses. It offers an expanded range of courses from experts across the globe to attract, develop, and grow diverse industry talent.

With claims professionals in Australia continuing to navigate remote and mobile work environments, the training programs’ format in the country will offer new learning methodologies to prepare a qualified, skilled, and capable workforce to meet the challenges of the evolving industry landscape.

Specifically, the courses in Australia aim to support claims, risk, and benefits professionals to develop and shape current and future adjusters, examiners, appraisers, forensic engineers, inspectors, case managers, client service directors, risk control professionals, and many other specialists.

In addition, they will complement the vital training and accreditation services provided by industry bodies, such as the Australasian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters (AICLA), Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF), and Personal Injury Education Foundation (PIEF).

Tracey Harris, chief operating officer at Sedgwick Australia, noted that more than 1,500 colleagues had completed Sedgwick University training programs in the US since the IAP’s inception.

“They’ve gone on to become confident leaders within our organization and across the claims profession,” Harris added. “It is an outstanding program that we are thrilled to now tailor and expand in Australia, with an eye toward growing the diversity and strength of talent within our industry.”

In a previous release, Josh Smith, global head of talent management at Sedgwick, highlighted the company’s focus on the significance of investing in people and building core capabilities through technical and power skills.

“As we set our sights on what the next generation of professionals and companies will need, we knew it was time to push the boundaries of Sedgwick’s training programs to meet the demand,” he said. “Under the Sedgwick University banner, our external training courses and certificate programs will set an industry standard for education with a name that is recognised globally.”
