Suncorp has moved to play down its launch of an insurance broking arm of its Resilium-branded authorised representative (AR) network, saying it is very small portion of the business and is only designed to ensure ARs can source niche types of cover.

Resilium Insurance Brokers (RIB) has been designed as a “one-stop-shop” for ARs. The Resilium AR network has access to a host of Resilium-branded and Suncorp underwritten products such as farm and heavy motor.

If ARs require niche products which Resilium does not have access to from the Suncorp range, the AR has the option of using RIB to source the cover from Suncorp competitors, rather than using another broker to find an appropriate product.

“Personal and commercial, farm and heavy motor products will continue to be provided via Resilium,” Gerard McDermott, Resilium managing director told Insurance Business, “while niche products not provided by Resilium will be via RIB whom as an independent insurance broker will have access to the wider market.”

Asked what the future growth plans for RIB are, McDermott said: “The purpose of RIB is to provide a one-stop-shop for Resilium authorised representatives to make it easier for them to service the needs of client.”
