Medibank and ahm have initiated financial and hardship assistance programs for customers affected by ex-Tropical Cyclone (TC) Jasper and widespread flooding in Cairns and its vicinity.

Customers who took a hit from the cyclone and floods may avail themselves of assistance from Medibank, encompassing options like suspending policies for up to two years or having premiums waived for three months.

Other types of customer support

Medibank advised flood-impacted customers in the specified areas to access the 24/7 mental health phone support line at 1800 644 325.

Medibank customers in Cairns and nearby regions seeking information on hardship support can reach out at 132 331. Meanwhile, ahm customers can contact 134 246 to converse with a representative.

The Insurance Council of Australia extended its “insurance catastrophe” declaration for the recent storms in response to their widespread impact.

Medibank chief customer officer Milosh Milisavljevic urged those affected in the Cairns region to connect for assistance.

“We've always supported our customers through difficult times, and we encourage customers in the Cairns region who have been impacted to give us a call,” Milisavljevic said.

In other news, the joint venture between a Medibank business and a healthcare organisation recently celebrated a milestone.
