Qantas has continued its expansion into white-label financial service products with the launch of its own car insurance program.

Following the success of Qantas’ venture into health insurance, life insurance, and travel insurance, Qantas rolled out its new car insurance scheme, offering its nearly 13 million members opportunities to earn Qantas frequent flyer points without stepping foot on a plane.

“These are competitive products that have the added benefit of earning points, and we've seen that work well with health insurance and credit cards. We expect Qantas Car Insurance to be popular for same reason,” Qantas CEO Alan Joyce told Daily Mail Australia. “Insurance can be a grudge purchase but in the first year of having Qantas Car Insurance you could earn enough points to fly from Brisbane to Singapore or Sydney to Bali.”

Qantas will give members up to 20,000 frequent flyer points (depending on the level of coverage) by signing up the new scheme, as well as a point for every dollar spent on their premium. Members can also earn up to 6,000 points every time they have their brake, tyre pressure, or engine checked.

Joyce said the airline plans to venture into home insurance in 2020, Daily Mail Australia reported.
