Allianz Partners has unveiled a series of updates to its Summit plan range, aiming to address the changing health coverage needs of small and mid-sized businesses in Australia and internationally.
The enhancements, which take effect from Aug. 1 reflect a growing demand for broader and more adaptable employee health benefits within the insurance sector.
The Summit plan, Allianz Partners’ international health insurance solution, is designed for companies employing between three and one hundred people.
The latest updates introduce an optional bariatric surgery benefit for the Summit 4000 and Summit 5000 tiers. This new feature covers medically necessary weight-loss procedures, including pre-surgical assessments, consultations, and treatment for complications following surgery.
The company noted that this change is intended to assist employees managing obesity-related health concerns.
Additionally, coverage for cognitive developmental delay has been expanded. The Summit 5000 plan will now include outpatient benefits for conditions such as dyslexia, delayed speech, and learning difficulties.
Employees and their dependents will have access to psychiatric care, psychotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, providing a more comprehensive approach to developmental challenges.
Allianz Partners is also introducing an outpatient benefit for prescribed vitamins, minerals, and supplements on the Summit 2500, 4000, and 5000 plans.
When recommended by a healthcare provider as part of a treatment plan, these supplements will be covered to support recovery and ongoing symptom management.
Women’s health coverage is being enhanced as well. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) will now be fully covered under the Summit 4000 and 5000 plans, including all medical practitioner and specialist fees and prescription drug costs associated with menopause or surgical ovarian removal.
The waiting period for fertility treatment on underwritten Summit 5000 plans has been reduced from 18 months to 12 months. This adjustment is designed to provide faster access to diagnostic services and IVF treatment for employees facing infertility.
Mariana Ishchuk, global head of product management and innovation for health at Allianz Partners, said the latest Summit plan updates reflect the company’s focus on providing inclusive health solutions for employees.
“By expanding coverage to include weight management and cognitive developmental support, we are addressing diverse healthcare needs that reflect the real lives of employees. These updates provide comprehensive resources for managing obesity-related conditions and cognitive challenges, ensuring that employees and their families receive the support they need,” she said.
She added that the expanded benefits for women’s health, including comprehensive hormone replacement therapy coverage and reduced waiting times for fertility treatment, reinforce Allianz Partners’ commitment to supporting staff at different stages of their health journey.
“These inclusive and flexible solutions not only enhance the value of our offerings but also align with the evolving priorities of employers and employees, fostering a healthier and more supportive work environment,” Ishchuk said.
