Global travel insurer Cover-More Group has appointed Conor Breslin as its new group chief information officer (CIO) to accelerate its digital transformation as international travel starts to resume.

Breslin is skilled in digital transformation, enterprise architecture, information security, IT service management, and IT strategy alignment. He joined Cover-More from Provident Financial Group and Vanquis Bank in the UK, where he served in the same role.

In the position since October 01, 2021, Breslin is based in Cover-More's London office, where he leads its IT teams and strategic IT priorities across the US, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Europe.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began last year, Cover-More has been executing its global technology strategy, with former group CIO Nicki Doble leading it.

“Essentially, what I was brought on board to do was to pull together the global technical strategy and help APAC because they were operating as a bricks and mortar IT area, and we needed to move them into being a digital IT shop,” Doble said in a statement last year. “It's important because, predominately, Cover-More sells its products either through partners or through direct websites.”

Cover-More Group CEO Cara Morton said having someone of Breslin's calibre would ensure the continued successful rollout of the group's digital transformation.

“As we continue to evolve our app-based customer propositions and open up a new world of travel protection for travellers, the role of CIO is critical to ensure our technology is best in class,” Morton said. “Conor brings a wealth of industry experience that will underpin our continued strong emergence from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global travel and the travel industry.”

Meanwhile, Doble remains with the group until the end of November 2021 as a strategic adviser and to facilitate an optimal transition.
