Group executive of personal injury

With close to 20 years of experience in insurance and finance, half of which has been focused on workers’ compensation, Beth Uehling oversees personal injury claims at icare, NSW’s workers’ compensation system. Over the past few years, she has led the development of icare’s new customer-focused service model, which underpins the organisation’s recent transformation. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has presented icare with significant challenges on that front.

“With COVID-19, we quickly implemented a range of measures, both within the organisation and with our claim service providers, to ensure injured workers and employers experienced as little disruption as possible,” Uehling says. “The entire team has met the challenge of working remotely and keeping operations running smoothly while also progressing our transformation program with continual changes to our operating model, systems and processes.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to have such a professional and committed team that continues to rise to the challenge in the face of ambiguity and uncertainty,” she adds. “We plan to evolve further with innovative ways to support all of our customers, especially in times of need. While we have come a long way in a relatively short period of time, there’s still some way to go until I’m satisfied that we’ve fully achieved the customer-centric vision we set ourselves five years ago.”
