Responsible for client advisory and placement services for cyber and technology risk throughout Marsh’s Pacific region, Kelly Butler is an expert in one of the most rapidly evolving spaces in insurance. The increasing importance of cybersecurity throughout the world – coupled with its ongoing evolution and the lack of seriousness still surrounding it in many industries – means that Butler’s role continues to gain new importance on a regular basis. Writing on LinkedIn in September 2019, she noted that “there’s no question that cyber risk is one of the most dynamic and complex risks of our time”.
Butler has been in insurance for more than 20 years. She was first introduced to the industry at HIH Insurance, Australia’s former second largest insurance company, and went on to hold roles with various insurers, including RFIB in the UK, QBE in New Zealand and Willis in Australia.
