The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) has announced the appointment of James Miller as chair of the ACC Board Investment Committee.

Miller has been an ACC board member and a member of the board investment committee since 2013. Currently, he is chair of NZX, a director of Mercury Energy, NZ Refining and St Cuthbert’s College. He is a former board member of the Financial Markets Authority.

ACC Board Chair Dame Paula Rebstock noted Miller’s role as chair of NZX, saying ACC and NZX have robust arrangements and processes in place for managing conflicts of interest.

“These arrangements and processes are consistent with the conflicts management requirements of the Crown Entities Act 2004,” she said.

Rebstock also thanked and acknowledged outgoing board members Trevor Janes and Professor Des Gorman.

“ACC benefited greatly from Des’s medical expertise, experience and insights,” Rebstock said. “He was a strong advocate of the need for ACC to work more closely in partnership with health providers.

“Trevor has twice been appointed to the ACC Board, serving almost 20 years in total. This is a remarkable contribution to not only ACC; but to Crown Entity governance. During his time on the Board, Trevor was committed to ensuring ACC meets the needs of customers and to the ongoing sustainability of the scheme,” she added.
