AA Insurance and car dealer network Turners have launched a “personal shopper” service to help people easily replace their written-off cars.
The new service allows AA Insurance customers to choose a replacement car sourced and delivered by Turners in only four to five days. The customers could provide a checklist of their preferred vehicle and could also contribute extra cash for an upgrade. If there are any changes from the budget or the price of the selected car, the difference would be refunded.
“For a car enthusiast, the idea of having cash to go and buy another car sounds great,” Simon Hobbs, head of claims at AA Insurance, told Driven.co.nz. “But for many, it’s just a hassle and stress… This service is a lifesaver for many AA Insurance customers.
“There has been some disbelief, perhaps a suspicion, that we’re clipping the ticket in some way. But that’s not the case. Those who have used the service have been very happy.”
AA Insurance and Turners put the service to the test last year for approximately 50 customers.
One customer had to replace two vehicles after the Timaru hailstorm but had a hard time finding a replacement at local used-car yards, so she decided to request replacements at AA Insurance. The insurer claimed it was able to provide replacement vehicles only “a few days” after the request.
