Aon has announced its collaboration with Osara Health to offer support to Aon employees in New Zealand who receive a cancer diagnosis.

This initiative provides Aon employees with confidential access to two digital programs by Osara Health: the Cancer Coach Program and Cancer Caregivers Program. These programs aim to provide support during challenging times for employees facing cancer diagnosis.

Cancer ranks among the top two health conditions that impact organisations and their employees, with 40% of diagnoses occurring during a person's working years, as reported by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.

The Cancer Coach and Cancer Caregivers programs utilise evidence-based support through innovative technology and health coaching. They also offer organisational training and guidance on employee communication, team relations, and return to work.

“Critical illnesses such as cancer remain as prevalent as ever and when someone is diagnosed with cancer, the other aspects of a person’s life – including their career – doesn’t just stop there,” said Anson Davies, general manager of life, health and benefits at Aon New Zealand.

“But working during treatment, or returning post-treatment, is understandably challenging. In addition, many people will know a colleague who has been affected in some way by a cancer diagnosis and knowing what to say and how to react within an organisation is especially challenging,” Davies said. “These programs will help ensure the right support is offered to those impacted by cancer and their families so our colleagues feel more relevant, connected and valued.”

Osara Health has been serving Australia's insurance and employer markets for over six years and is the sole clinically validated return-to-work intervention for cancer worldwide.

“This new agreement represents a positive step forward in expanding across the water into New Zealand, allowing us to greatly enhance the assistance provided to employees, transforming the process of seeking support, resuming normal lives and maintaining employment in the face of cancer challenges,” said Dr. Raghav Murali-Ganesh, co-founder and CEO of Osara Health.

“The opportunity to offer our programs with Aon New Zealand is testament to our relationship and the benefits that our programs can offer to their colleagues.”
