Bermuda-based holding company Everest Re announced yesterday that it has hired Keith Lavigne to serve as the leader of the Management & Professional Liability unit within Everest Specialty Underwriters.

Following his appointment, Lavigne will be based in Everest Insurance’s office in New York City.

Previously, Lavigne was the executive vice-president of Chubb Financial Lines, as well as business segment leader for Chubb’s retail management liability business. As EVP, he managed a team of 300 underwriters across 30 offices in North America. Before joining Chubb/ACE in 2009, he spent eight years with AIG, where he most recently served as senior vice-president of the company’s executive liability financial institutions division.

“We are thrilled that Keith has joined us at Everest,” Everest Speciality Underwriters head Mike Karmilowicz said. “Keith is an accomplished and action oriented leader, as well as a strong underwriting technician who will be a tremendous asset to Everest as we continue to innovate and solve our clients and trading partners’ most challenging problems.”

Lavigne received his Bachelor of Science degree in financial accounting from the University of New Haven. He also holds a Certified Public Accountant designation in Connecticut. Lavigne is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.
