AIG has appointed Julian Travaglia to the role of head of broker and client management.

Travaglia will be responsible for building and executing profitable growth strategies with AIG’s consumer and commercial product lines, and for all broker/major account relationship management in New Zealand.

The role came up last month after former head of broker and client management Eugene Elisara left to take up the position of CEO of the New Zealand branch of Allianz.

Travaglia brings considerable financial services and distribution experience to the role, and has worked at AIG since 2008 when he took the role of manager – accident and health.

He then progressed to head of consumer in 2010 where he was responsible for sales growth and profitability across seven product lines, developing strategic relationships with large clients and brokers.

Before AIG, he held senior roles in financial services product sales and distribution at some of New Zealand’s best known financial services providers including a subsidiary of Southern Cross Healthcare and AMP Financial Services.

AIG’s acting general manager, Debbie Wilson, said Travaglia was a talented insurance professional who was well respected in the New Zealand marketplace.

“AIG is committed to building strong relationships with our brokers, business partners and customers.

“We are excited by the skills and experience that he brings to this important role.”

The company is expected to officially announce its new CEO in the coming days.
