Major health insurer Southern Cross Health Society has appointed digital and ICR leader Roxanne Salton as its new chief digital officer.

Salton has more than 20 years of experience in digital transformation and innovation – focusing on telco, energy, and the banking sector. She also has a broad background in sales, product, and strategy. Prior to her new role, she served as the head of digital strategy and delivery at Mercury NZ.

In her new role, she will lead the firm’s digital strategy for the My Southern Cross member platform on web and mobile, cloud-based technologies, and artificial intelligence initiatives.

“Southern Cross not only embraces a digital ethos but puts it front and centre of everything they do. It’s about providing a great user experience for members, providers and staff,” Salton said.

Nick Astwick, chief executive officer at Southern Cross Health Society, said that Salton’s expertise will be a significant asset to the firm.

“Roxanne brings a strong commercial background to technology and with her focus on human-centred design. I know she will excel at bringing our customer experience to life digitally,” Astwick said.

“She is passionate about disruptive technologies that are customer-centric, which aligns with our important role in helping Kiwis live their healthiest lives.”

Salton will start her new role with Southern Cross Healthy Society on November 11.
