Tower to close Christchurch office - reports
Tower has announced plans to close its Christchurch office at the conclusion of its Canterbury Earthquake programme, according to reports.

The NZ Herald states that Tower’s decision will affect 20 employees.

Tower chief executive Richard Harding told the publication that the number of remaining Canterbury earthquake claims has continued to reduce with fewer than 300 still open.

“The solid progress being made finalising claims means that we continue to move towards the finalisation of our Canterbury Earthquake recovery programme,” Harding told the publication.

“We have made the decision to communicate this now to provide clarity for our people.”

Harding reportedly said Tower will provide its affected staff with full career transition support, including career coaching, training, as well as the opportunity to redeploy to its Auckland or Rotorua teams.

The firm will remain available to customers online at tower.co.nz or on 0800 379 372 at any time, the publication added.
