A young woman from Hawke’s Bay has died suddenly from a suspected epileptic seizure – leaving her fiancé devastated and facing crippling financial problems, NZ Herald reports.

Jess Reid died at her Hastings home last week – leaving Alex Bradley, her grieving fiancé, to face the possibility of losing the home that was their “dream property” as she did not have any life insurance.

The “reptile crazy” couple were engaged in December 2018 in Auckland Zoo’s Galapagos tortoise enclosure and they moved into their “dream property” in June 2019 as they planned to settle down and raise a family.

Gaylene Holley, Reid’s boss, started a Givealittle appeal to raise enough funds so Bradley would be able to keep the dream home.

“Words cannot describe the pain Alex and the family are feeling right now. Life will never be the same. There are no words,” the Givealittle page stated.

“[Alex] desperately wants to stay in their house but even with a lodger it’s going to be touch and go. Unfortunately due to a life insurance stand down period there is no help coming following her death.”
