Zurich has today confirmed the appointment of Brett Wainhouse as its general manager – New Zealand, general insurance. He will take on responsibility for Zurich’s New Zealand branch across underwriting, business development, deal management and operations.

Wainhouse has been with Zurich since 2014, starting as underwriting manager for financial lines and casualty, before being promoted in 2016 to head of corporate underwriting and deal management. He has also worked in senior underwriting and broking roles at Lumley New Zealand, Marsh London & New Zealand, ACE Insurance and AON, accumulating over 20 years of industry experience.

“Brett brings a significant amount of experience to the role and a unique perspective form his time as both a broker and an underwriter,” said Steve Ord, chief distribution officer, general insurance. “Brett’s capabilities and leadership qualities will ensure we remain on our continued positive trajectory in New Zealand, and continue to deliver the very best of Zurich to our broker partners and our customers.”

Commenting on his appointment, Wainhouse said: “I’m excited to be taking on this role at a time when Zurich has renewed momentum and focus in the market. I’m looking forward to leading our strong New Zealand team and building on the great work that has been done here over the past two years.”
