AIA NZ, a key player in New Zealand's life insurance market, has launched an updated version of its AIA Vitality app.

This upgrade introduces enhanced features aimed at enriching the user interface and bolstering support for individuals focused on improving their health and wellbeing.

Launched in 2019, the AIA Vitality initiative is a program grounded in scientific principles, designed to guide users toward healthier lifestyles. It has attracted nearly 60,000 users who have collectively recorded over 79 billion steps.

The program has seen members complete 17,404 health checks and reap rewards exceeding $3.9 million in weekly active benefits, alongside an additional $3.4 million in Status Rewards, redeemable as Airpoints Dollars or Countdown Vouchers.

What to expect from the updated AIA Vitality app

AIA NZ chief customer officer Angela Busby emphasised the revamped app's role in streamlining the experience for its users.

“Our mission at AIA NZ is to make Aotearoa New Zealand one of the healthiest and best protected nations in the world. The AIA Vitality program has played a crucial role in supporting this by providing members with guidance, tools, and rewards, so they can get more out of life and start thriving,” she said. “Throughout the first five years of AIA Vitality, we have worked hard to continually enhance and develop the programme for our members. The new app will take this a step further, making it even easier to engage with the programme, track their health journey, and earn rewards.”

Significant updates to the app include a redesigned interface, enhanced security measures such as multi-factor authentication, a new system for reward management, and simplified health and financial wellbeing assessments.

Transition to new AIA Vitality app

Busby assured existing AIA Vitality members that the transition to the new app would be seamless, with no loss of current status, points, or accumulated rewards.

“AIA NZ is committed to improving the nation's health outcomes, driving awareness of the importance of knowing your health, and taking preventative steps to improve it, all while receiving great rewards and discounts. And don’t worry – if you're an existing AIA Vitality member, your current status, points balance, and rewards will all carry over to the new app,” she said.

This newly updated app is accessible to all AIA policyholders who incorporate the AIA Vitality program into their eligible insurance products, including life, trauma, disability, income protection, and health coverage.

AIA NZ also recently upgraded its health insurance policies, now covering prophylactic surgeries for policyholders following a successful cancer claim.
