Kiwi insurer Fidelity Life has appointed Suncorp New Zealand chief customer officer Campbell Mitchell (pictured) as chief executive effective in the fourth quarter.

“The board is delighted with Campbell’s appointment,” Fidelity Life chair Brian Blake said in an emailed release. “We’re impressed with his strong track record of enabling high-performing teams and leading transformation projects.

“He has held executive responsibilities for a broad range of functions at Suncorp, including customer, sales, claims, operations, marketing, and corporate affairs, as well as being acting CEO of Suncorp New Zealand from time to time. However, the fit with our business, our culture, and our team is equally important, and that’s where Campbell clearly stood out.”

Chief operating officer Ian Clancy, who stepped up to serve as acting chief executive following the departure of Melissa Cantell, will remain at the helm until Mitchell’s arrival.

Blake said: “The board would like to thank Ian who continues to do a great job as acting CEO, ensuring we finished FY23 with good momentum and enabling a smooth transition to Campbell in October.”
