Alesco Risk Management Services has promoted Donald Alcorn (pictured) to the role of managing director of the company’s global delegated authority practice.

As the managing director of global delegated authority, Alcorn will head up the 50-strong team, which is primarily based in London and serves clients across the world. He has been with Alesco for more than 10 years, most recently serving as managing director of delegated authority for the UK.

Alcorn has worked in the London market for over 25 years, and specialises in binding authorities. He joined Alesco as part of the company’s acquisition of Oxygen.

“I have been part of the Alesco team for a number of years and I am very pleased to be able to take on leadership of this knowledgeable and hardworking group of risk professionals,” commented Alcorn on his appointment.

“We use our connections to introduce underwriters to MGAs, other brokers and coverholders to find a successful and profitable solution for their requirements. Our team differentiates itself by working hand-in hand with clients and the market.”

The Alesco delegated authority practice has a portfolio of about 300 contracts for over 125 agents around the world. It also manages gross premiums in excess of $1 billion. The practice works with MGAs, coverholders, and specialist brokers from more than 30 countries.

“I am delighted we have been able to appoint one of our existing talented team members into this important leadership role within Alesco,” added Alesco CEO Jonathan Turner. “Donald has done a fantastic job leading our UK offering, and his wealth of experience and track record of client delivery means he is well placed to oversee the next phase in the growth and development of our delegated authority offering.”
