Gu commented on the scholarship, saying: “We are proud to partner with Renmin University to provide scholarships to some of its most talented and deserving actuarial science students. These scholarships reflect our company’s commitment to helping to engage and cultivate the next generation of insurance and reinsurance professionals.”

Aside from the Axis Re Actuarial Scholarship, the reinsurer has sponsored several other education and training endeavours for the actuarial science field, such as the “Future of Insurance” student hackathon, in cooperation with the University of Illinois Office of Risk Management and Insurance Research. It aims to help students explore and understand the impact of technology in the insurance industry.

The company also sponsors the annual Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) Actuarial Scholarship in the region, as well as several related seminars throughout the year.

Renmin University is a public research university in Beijing, China. Its post-graduate actuarial science and risk management degree is one of the most prestigious insurance-focused academic programs in the country.
