Capsicum Re beefs up cyber team

Firm seeks to maintain its reputation as the ‘go-to’ cyber reinsurance broker with new recruits

Specialist reinsurance brokerage firm Capsicum Re has added new recruits to its cyber team to strengthen its position in London and North America.
 
The company has hired Patrick Bousfield, Jane Palmer and Alice O’Dwyer-Smith for the London office. They will report to Ian Newman, a partner in the broker’s property and specialty division.
 
“Their specialist knowledge and expertise will enhance our offering, enabling us to continue developing new, innovative products and solutions for our clients,” said Matt FitzGerald, managing partner of the London property and specialty division at Capsicum Re.
 
FitzGerald said Capsicum Re has the largest dedicated cyber reinsurance team in the market.
 
“Our reputation as the ‘go-to’ cyber reinsurance broker is dependent upon our ability to meet our clients’ growing needs. This is increasingly important in the wake of the new threats facing the cyber market,” he said.
 
With experience in treaty and facultative reinsurance, Bousfield joined from EC3 Brokers, where he focused on Canadian business development and SME and public entities cyber. He also spent more than five years at Beach & Associates, working in Toronto, Sydney and London.
 
Palmer was most recently a broker in the specialty casualty team at BMS Group, where she worked mainly on North American business including. She was also broker at THB Group.
 
O’Dwyer-Smith joined from Willis, where she was on the reinsurance broking graduate scheme. She worked across a diverse portfolio of specialty clients with a focus on terrorism, onshore energy, political risk and trade credit.
