Chubb has made new management roles and promotions for its operations in the UK and Ireland to expand its presence in the middle market.

The insurer has appointed info tech manager Karen Strong as head of custom industry solutions, a newly formed product cluster that combines the life science, info tech, package and entertainment industry segments.

Strong will bring together the company’s dedicated solutions in these areas to develop and lead the product cluster. The 30-year industry veteran will report to Sara Mitchell, head of corporate division, UK and Ireland.

Meanwhile, environmental risk manager Emma Bartolo (pictured) has been named corporate regional manager, London. Chubb created a new London region to complement its structure in the four areas where it has local presence through regional offices: Midlands and the South, the North, Scotland and Ireland.

Also reporting to Mitchell, Bartolo will work with business line heads and underwriting teams on the ground.

“I am excited about the creation of these two new roles which will help us to further build on our strengths in the middle market,” Mitchell said of the appointments.

Bartolo will be replaced in her current role by senior underwriter Glenn O’Halloran, who will drive the growth of the environmental risk product line across the UK and Ireland and of Chubb Global Markets, the company’s London-based wholesale division.
