As part of its goal to establish a national US insurance law practice, Clyde & Co has revealed plans to open three new offices in the Southwestern US region.

The global law firm will be opening the three offices in Phoenix, AZ, Denver, CO, and Las Vegas, NV. Coinciding with the office launches, Clyde & Co has also hired insurance partner Amy Samberg and her team.

Samberg joins Clyde & Co from Foran Glennon Palandech Ponzi & Rudloff. She and her team advise insurers on coverage and bad faith matters across multiple business lines, including general, professional and financial; they specialize in first-party property. Samberg has also extensively litigated and tried bad faith and coverage suits in courts throughout the Southwest.

Along with Samberg, Clyde & Co are also welcoming the rest of her team, which include senior counsels Amy Stein (Phoenix), Jeri Wettestad, Kevin Hoskins and Tamara Jordan (Denver), Dylan Todd (Las Vegas), Jefferson Patten (based in Clyde & Co’s Chicago office), as well as several other associates and staff.

“The opening of these three offices represents a significant step in our aim to build the leading national US insurance practice,” said Clyde & Co CEO Matthew Kelsall. “We have long sought a presence in this growing region to ensure we can serve our clients where they need us and with Amy and her team we’re confident we’re bringing on board the best insurance team in the region.”

“Insurers have demonstrated a flight to quality in recent years in their choice of counsel and this has been shown time and again during COVID-19. Clients increasingly want market-leading advice and service levels wherever they operate, across the US, North America and indeed the world and that is what we’re committed to providing them,” added Clyde & Co North American board chair Carolena Gordon.

“Opening in the Southwest provides us with enhanced strength in what is a key growth market for the insurance industry and many of our largest insurance clients. From a national perspective, Amy and her team’s practice complements the existing insurance expertise we have across the US,” commented Clyde & Co North American insurance strategy group chair Eileen King Bower.

“I have long admired the scale and depth of expertise Clyde & Co has developed in the US market over the past 15 years, to become a premium brand for insurance in the country and globally. I am looking forward to driving this next phase of their growth story and heading up the firm’s Southwest regional push,” said Samberg of her appointment.

Clyde & Co said that this expansion is its latest international growth effort. The firm had opened an office in Munich, Germany in February 2021, and an associated office in Nairobi, Kenya in October 2020.
