Covéa Insurance, part of French mutual insurance group Covéa, has appointed Carol Geldard as personal lines director, effective June 2016.

In the newly created role, Geldard will be responsible for the company’s personal lines offering, through both its direct and intermediated channels, as well as the company’s marketing and communications activities. Covéa Insurance’s Personal Lines leadership teams will all report to her, including Sue Coffey, director of intermediated distribution, personal lines; Gary Yeates, director of pricing and underwriting, personal lines; and Stephen Long, head of direct distribution.

Geldard has been with Covéa for almost 15 years, holding various senior roles. Most recently, she was retail distribution director, where she led the development and launch of the company’s direct-to-consumer motor proposition. She also played a significant role in the formation of Covéa Insurance in 2012.

Chief executive James Reader commented on the appointment: "Carol’s appointment is well-deserved recognition of her exceptional contribution to our business over many years. She brings to the role considerable experience and knowledge of both our business and the personal lines market and I have no doubt she will do a fantastic job of leading the on-going development of our personal lines business in support of our long-term objective of sustainable, profitable growth”.
