Claims management provider Crawford & Company has named Afzal Ahmed (pictured) as director of subsidence operations in the UK.

The appointment is part of Crawford’s efforts to “revamp” its leadership team to “deliver better quality at every stage of a claim.”

Ahmed joins Crawford from 360Globalnet, where he was previously managing director. As the new director of subsidence, he will lead one of the strongest subsidence teams in the sector, a company release said.

“Afzal has subsidence claims management expertise spanning 24 years and has a wealth of experience across both field and claim functions,” said Crawford director of platforms UK and subsidence Lee Sadowski. “He also has expertise for technical claims, client relationships, recoveries and audit. I am confident that we have found the ideal leader for our subsidence team at a time when climate change is impacting the regularity and volume of claims.”

Sadowski added that under Afzal’s leadership, he believes that the subsidence team can become “the premium subsidence solution” through the firm’s “innovative graduate recruitment program and a relentless focus on operational excellence.”

“I am excited to be working with people who are passionate about what they do and responding to the uplift in subsidence claims after the record-breaking temperatures this year,” commented Ahmed on his appointment. “I am looking forward to the challenge presented by the current subsidence surge and helping Crawford to deliver on its purpose to restore lives, businesses and communities.”

Last month, Crawford formed a partnership with Italian insurer Generali to provide specialist cyber incident response and loss adjusting services to the latter’s corporate and SME clients around the globe.
