HIVE Underwriters is expanding into the general aviation (GA) class with the appointment of Jay Wigmore as class underwriter.

As class underwriter, Wigmore will be responsible for building HIVE’s GA portfolio. He will be based in London and will report to HIVE Underwriters chief underwriting officer Bruce Carman.

Wigmore most recently served as head of general aviation and product development at Tokio Marine Kiln, where he spent the last 21 years.

“I am delighted to announce Jay’s appointment,” commented Bruce Carman. “I have no doubt he will not only build a premium GA portfolio but also assist with the development of HIVE as we look to create a frictionless risk transfer platform.”

Carman added that the appointment was testament to HIVE’s team and that Wigmore has a “proven track record of profitability.”

“I am excited to be joining HIVE to build on the successes already achieved,” said Wigmore. “Bruce and his team have established a great position and reputation in the market. I welcome the opportunity to become part of the team.”

HIVE Underwriters is a wholly owned subsidiary of HIVE Underwriting.

Last year, HIVE Underwriting appointed Christine Dandridge as non-executive director. Dandridge is one of the founding members of Atrium Underwriting, and was one of the first female underwriters at Lloyd’s.
