In the latest insurance moves, the Association of Average Adjusters has named a new chairman, while London-based MGA Euna Underwriting has strengthened its leadership team in property and casualty.
The Association of Average Adjusters (AAA) has appointed Stelios Magkanaris (pictured, left) as chairman for the coming year, with the new leader signalling a drive to raise the profile of average adjusting across the marine insurance and claims market.
Magkanaris was confirmed at the association's AGM in London on May 7, succeeding Chris Kilbee, who stepped down after completing his one-year term.
Magkanaris is director and founder of Maradco in Greece. His career has included technical and claims roles at one of Greece’s largest shipping companies and at the Swedish Club’s Piraeus office, where he served as marine claims manager.
Magkanaris said his term as vice chairman had prepared him for the position while also underlining the expectations attached to it.
“Serving as vice chairman under Chris Kilbee provided the best possible preparation for my year in office. At the same time, it makes the task ahead all the more challenging as I strive to match his leadership and the exceptionally high standards set by those who have preceded me. It is both a tremendous responsibility and the greatest honour," he said.
London-based MGA Euna Underwriting has appointed Nicholas Hartley (pictured, right) as head of property and casualty as it looks to accelerate the build-out of its multi-line proposition.
Hartley will provide strategic direction as the firm develops its P&C portfolio and will oversee underwriting strategy and portfolio management.
Hartley joins from AXA UK, where he most recently served as head of SME underwriting. In that role he oversaw a broad book spanning property and casualty, motor fleet and financial lines, giving him experience across the core segments targeted by MGAs and capacity providers in the UK market.
With more than 25 years’ underwriting experience, Hartley brings technical expertise and a track record in building and managing P&C portfolios.
