Mission Underwriters and Markel have announced strategic leadership changes.
Markel has promoted Mike Petchey (pictured above) to head of schemes, responsible for leading its broker-led specialist schemes proposition.
Petchey, who has over 20 years of industry experience, most recently served as head of corporate accounts at Markel, where he contributed to developing the company’s schemes strategy and broker relationships.
In his new role, Petchey will oversee Markel’s dedicated schemes team, focusing on sector-specific propositions.
Jo Sykes, broker director UK at Markel, described the promotion as recognition of Petchey’s commitment.
Mission Underwriters has appointed Sujatha Raju as chief technology officer, furthering its focus on technology-driven insurance solutions.
Raju will lead the company’s technology team, advancing its platform with an emphasis on scalable infrastructure and operational efficiency to support underwriters and partners. The appointment follows Mission’s recent acquisition of Talage, a submission management platform for commercial insurance.
Jim Dwane, CEO of Mission Underwriters, said Raju’s arrival would support the development of the firm’s technological tools.
Raju brings more than 23 years of experience in technology transformation and IT strategy within the insurance and information services sectors. Her previous roles included being CIO at Coaction Specialty Insurance and various positions at Cognizant Technology Solutions.
