John Lloyd joins Ascot Underwriting board

New man aims to support transition after company was subject of a major acquisition

Following the announcement of a major buy-out from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), Ascot Underwriting has revealed a significant new member of its board.

John Lloyd, former CEO of JLT Speciality Ltd., has joined the firm as independent non-executive director.

Lloyd was a founding director of Lloyd Thompson Ltd. in 1981 and was appointed chairman of Lloyd Thompson Group Ltd., in 1993. Following its merger with Jardine Insurance Brokers in 1997, Lloyd was a director of JLT Group until 2005 when he became chairman and CEO of the JLT Group subsidiary Lloyd & Partners. He then moved to his role as CEO of JLT Specialty Ltd. in 2014.   

Andrew Brooks, chief executive officer of Ascot Underwriting Ltd. said, “I am delighted to welcome John to Ascot’s Board. His immense knowledge and wealth of experience will bring significant value to Ascot as we develop our business over the coming years with CPPIB.”

John Lloyd added: “I’m excited to have joined Ascot at this time, supporting the transition to the new relationship with CPPIB, and am looking forward to contributing to Ascot’s long term strategy.”
