Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) has appointed Chris Hall (pictured), Lloyds Banking Group’s current head of trade asset management, as senior underwriter. He will be based in LSM’s headquarters in London.

Hall, who started his banking career at Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in 2005, has been tasked to spearhead LSM’s development of a new trade finance insurance initiative. The key hire will report to Andrew Beechey, head of underwriting and strategic development – global financial risks.

“We are very pleased to have Chris join our team,” said Beechey. “He’s established a very strong reputation in the trade finance sector as an innovator and strategic thinker.”

At RBS, Hall held a variety of roles including business development manager, international manager, and vice president – trade asset management before moving to Lloyds Bank in 2015. He is also a serving board member of the International Trade and Forfaiting Association.

“This is a very exciting time for our team at Liberty,” commented Peter Sprent, head of LSM’s global financial risks team. “We are keen to deliver capacity to support clients and brokers in the most accessible and efficient way for all parties, particularly in the areas of trade and commodity finance.”
