The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has strengthened its personal accident committee with the addition of Hamilton Underwriting executive Laura Owen.

Owen, the head of accident and health at Hamilton, has been elected to serve for a five-year term. She will take on her new role immediately.

“I am delighted to have been elected to the LMA personal accident committee, whose work is highly beneficial to A&H underwriters at Lloyd’s,” she said. “I look forward to offering my expertise and experience to the important work of the committee.”

The personal accident committee leads on a wide range of issues affecting Lloyd’s managing agents and syndicates on behalf of the Lloyd’s market.

For 2017, the committee will focus on monitoring the final regulations implementing the Affordable Healthcare Act in the US.

The committee’s priorities for the year also include cover holder reporting standards and managing risk issues arising from policy work of the Financial Conduct Authority.

Joining Owen in the committee are re-elected members John Moffatt, head of specialty at Argo, and William Waddell-Dudley, senior class underwriter for accident and health at Talbot.
