One of the world’s largest privately-owned insurance brokers is moving to a new, bigger and imposing office in Glasgow following a year of continued success.

Lockton’s Corporate Scotland will transfer from 19 St. Vincent Place on August 8 to the Alexander Stenhouse Building at 145 St. Vincent Street, the Scottish Financial News reported.

Gordon Duncan, Lockton’s partner and head of corporate, said that the office move will enable the company to increase its staff.

“Lockton is investing £250,000 in the move to the new 4,500 sq. ft. office, which will give us the capability to raise headcount from the present 15 to 40,” Duncan was quoted as saying in the report.

The relocation also marks the best trading year of the UK broker, which has doubled its turnover with premiums in excess of £10 million and client retention rate of 98%.

“This move caps a period of exciting growth for Lockton in Scotland and demonstrates our ambition and the firmness of our intent to become one of the leading brokers in the corporate sector. Our message is that we are here to stay and here to grow,” the Scottish Financial News quoted Duncan as saying.

Duncan also said that the new office building is “full of character” and reflects the company’s “seriousness of purpose.”

“We are dealing with multiple international accounts and the new office perfectly reflects Lockton’s position as a global broker,” he said.
