Oak Underwriting’s Mark Coffey is making the switch to The Ardonagh Group’s Autonet and Carole Nash. Appointed as commercial director of the two brands, Coffey will be assuming his new role at the end of next month.

The move means Coffey is leaving RSA, which has agreed to sell Oak to Zurich UK. The industry veteran worked at Zurich for years prior to joining RSA in 2011 as director of core brokers in personal lines.

“Mark is the ideal addition to our team as we continue to assess acquisitive opportunities with a view to sustainable, profitable growth across our brands,” noted Autonet and Carole Nash chief executive Ian Donaldson. “His experience in the private car and home markets will prove invaluable as we look to strengthen our foothold in these spaces, and his expertise in integrating businesses aligns perfectly to our ongoing assessment of the collaborative opportunities across Autonet and Carole Nash.

“On a personal note, I am really looking forward to working with Mark and know that he will hit the ground running, revelling in our pace and ambition.”

The incoming commercial director served as managing director of Oak, which is slated to become part of the Zurich private clients business.

Commenting on his appointment, Coffey said: “Ian and the team are leading a compelling business with a unique position in the market, harnessing the indisputable power that leading brands Autonet and Carole Nash provide in a sector awash with opportunity. I am genuinely delighted to be on board; to be leveraging the broader backing of The Ardonagh Group and to be forging ahead with plans to expand on the collective clout of these businesses.”
