Simon Harker, who retired in 2020 after 44 years in the industry, is back – joining the aviation unit at underwriting business Inigo Limited.

Prior to his retirement, Harker served as global chair and chief executive of aviation at Marsh. At Inigo, which entered the market in January 2021, he will be working with Ed Whitworth. The latter is now in charge of aviation underwriting, after heading Inigo’s D&O (directors and officers) offering.

Commenting on his appointment, Harker said in an emailed release: “In a relatively short period of time, Inigo has stood out at pursuing leadership positions in a very focussed way in the select lines that they underwrite.

“I’ve been fortunate to spend a long career with many terrific clients and brokers across the aviation sector, and I’m excited to offer my experience to Ed and the team to take the Inigo proposition to the next level.”

Meanwhile Whitworth had this to say: “We currently offer property, casualty, D&O, and cyber alongside war insurance to the aviation industry. I look forward to working with Simon in bringing together our client and broker proposition and building out our team further still.”

Inigo distribution head Matthew Rolph went on to add that they’re “very proud” to have Harker come on board.

“His industry sector credentials and experience with clients and brokers across the globe is hard to rival,” Rolph said. “The combination of Simon with Ed, who has an exemplary record supporting clients and brokers and expanding our underwriting offering, will be a huge asset to us."
