PIB Group has announced the recruitment of Richard Kirby (pictured) to the position of chief transformation & integration officer, marking a significant enhancement to the insurance intermediary’s executive team.

The move aims to bolster PIB’s operational capabilities and its strategy when it comes to international mergers, acquisitions, and integrations, underscoring the company’s ambition to establish a leading pan-European insurance distribution group.

Kirby’s responsibilities will span across the retail, specialty, underwriting, and schemes divisions at PIB, as well as international operations, with a focus on optimising the integration of acquired businesses and driving profitability and growth.

With Kirby taking on the new role, PIB chief operating/information officer Paul Johnson will be able to dedicate more effort towards the CIO aspects of his remit, particularly digitisation, data, and security. Meanwhile, Johnson will retain oversight of ESG (environmental, social, and governance) and the Indian operations.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Richard to PIB Group,” deputy chief executive Ryan Brown commented. “Richard joins us with extensive international insurance broking experience, having held senior operational value creation roles across both the corporate and private equity sectors.

“Richard’s many years driving accretive margin growth through acquisition integration and international growth will help PIB evolve as we continue our journey as a leading European insurance distribution business of scale.”

Making the switch from LDC Private Equity, the key hire brings more than two and a half decades of experience to PIB. Kirby’s credentials include time spent at Aon and Marsh.

“This is a fantastic time to be joining PIB Group as its international expansion increases pace,” said Kirby, who sees PIB’s culture as “a great fit” for him. “I have longed admired PIB Group and feel that my skills and experience will help PIB deliver best-in-class integration and support our continued journey to become a larger, better, and more efficient international player.”
