Pioneer Underwriters has announced that it has unified its financial institutions (FI) businesses into one global underwriting operation. The global FI team will be led by Richard Coello, and will be responsible for all FI business written by Pioneer, utilising the same capital base to write business from its offices in London, Brussels and New York.

Pioneer has also added Rolando Rodriguez to the global FI team. Rodriguez, who will be based in New York, previously served as the company’s vice president for diversified financial services. His expertise will allow US brokers to access Pioneer’s capital base directly in the US, the company said.

“It is a key Pioneer ambition to build on its position as a leading global asset management insurance specialist, and this multi-platform, single-strategy approach will help us achieve this aim,” said Graeme Rayner, Pioneer group chief underwriting officer. “With one capital base and a clear, focused risk appetite, the team is ready and geared to offer a market-leading proposition.”
