Pioneer Underwriters, which launched its excess and surplus (E&S) property operation in November, has appointed Kellie Reese as underwriter.

The specialist property underwriter brings with her nearly three decades of experience in the class. Reese previously worked at The Hartford, Fireman’s Fund, and ACE.

“I’m excited to be joining the team as we build our underwriting capabilities in the US property E&S market,” commented the key hire, who will be reporting to Georgia-based David Phillips.

Philips, head of E&S property at Pioneer, said they are building an “exceptionally talented” team to deliver an outstanding product to both clients and brokers through what he described as a “sophisticated” underwriting platform. “I’m pleased to welcome Kellie onboard as we grow and build Pioneer’s capability in the property E&S arena,” he commented.

Pioneer’s new unit writes all types of covers, including all-risk, DIC (difference in conditions), and specified perils.
