Probitas 1492, the fast-growing re/insurance syndicate at Lloyd’s, has recruited JLT executive Richard Beaumont to expand its casualty offering.

Beaumont has been appointed senior underwriter, UK liability. He will work alongside Michelle Shaw, senior underwriter, international liability.

He will report to Neila Buurman, chief underwriting officer, casualty.

“I look forward to utilizing my underwriting and development skills in this exciting, forward-thinking venture,” Beaumont said.

Commenting on the new appointment, Buurman said she is delighted that Beaumont will lead their UK casualty offering.

“Having worked with him in the past, I know what a valuable contribution he will make to our casualty team, especially with his combined underwriting and business development experience,” she said.

Beaumont, who joined from JLT’s new business team, spent over 10 years of his career at QBE, where he was responsible for the property, casualty and motor underwriting teams for the UK south region.

Beaumont also held positions at Iron Trades Insurance and Ace Europe.

His appointment follows rapid expansion of Probitas 1492, which has quadrupled in size since it began trading in October 2015.
