Rokstone has confirmed that its acquisition of Post & Co, the specialist marine and logistics MGA, has received regulatory approval to begin writing business, completing a deal first announced in May 2026.
Founded in 1918 and operating from four offices across Rotterdam, Groningen, Antwerp and Frankfurt, Post & Co has more than a century of experience underwriting P&I, charterers' and shipowners' liability, war risk, cargo and logistics cover. It works with around 250 brokers across Europe and Asia, backed by Lloyd's and specialist company market capacity.
The deal marked the first MGA acquisition for Rokstone's parent group, Aventum, and remains growth-focused, with no changes planned to Post & Co's existing management or organisational structure.
Roderick Post, chief executive of Post & Co, will continue leading the business and play a key role in shaping Rokstone's growth across continental Europe within marine - a structure Aventum emphasised from the outset.
When the acquisition was first announced, Post said his company had been a family business for more than a century and that finding the right long-term partner was a decision approached with considerable care, citing Aventum's values around independence and its people as closely aligned with what Post & Co stands for.
David Bearman, chief executive of Aventum, described the deal as a landmark moment for the group, saying Aventum's financial independence and freedom from restrictive debt gave it room to pursue M&A opportunities at a time when other players in the market were retreating.
As part of the deal, Post & Co's clients and brokers gain access to Rokstone's ATOMX trading system, supporting a more connected and efficient trading experience alongside the expanded underwriting authority and broker connectivity the combination brings.
For brokers placing marine, cargo, P&I or war risk business with European exposure, the practical effect of this deal is a widened single point of access. Post & Co's century-long relationships with Dutch, Belgian and German shipowners and charterers now sit alongside Rokstone's existing North American, UK and Asian marine capability under one group.
The acquisition expands and complements Rokstone's existing marine proposition across the UK, North America and Asia, with Post describing the combination as an acceleration of ambitions Post & Co already held rather than a change of direction forced by the acquisition.
This deal is one of several moves Rokstone has made to expand its specialty platform. The MGA has appointed Kamil Mammadov as head of short tail lines for its DIFC operation, brought in Eddie Hughes to lead a newly built specialty reinsurance portfolio, and promoted Nadine Kearney to chief underwriting and risk officer with a board seat as an SMF3 executive director.
The pattern points to a business investing simultaneously in geographic expansion, specialty product lines, and the underwriting and claims infrastructure needed to support a rapidly growing global platform.
James Potter, chairman at Rokstone, said marine is one of the business's largest and most strategically important lines, and that together with the Post & Co team Rokstone will shape solutions around real-world needs, ensuring every policy is as sharp as the risk it protects and that brokers and clients receive the responsive, personalised support this complex market demands.
What stands out about this deal is the explicit emphasis on continuity over integration. Aventum has been clear that Post & Co's leadership, structure and brand remain unchanged - a deliberate choice for a business whose value lies substantially in more than a century of accumulated broker and client relationships in a specific regional market.
For a specialty MGA platform built through acquisition, preserving exactly the local expertise and relationships that made a target attractive in the first place is a harder discipline to maintain at scale than the acquisition itself, and will be the more meaningful test of this deal's success over the next few years.
