It looks like SCOR, which ranked fifth in A.M. Best’s freshly released list of top 50 global reinsurers, is going to make news all week.

In the span of a few days, the major reinsurance firm has revealed a takeover rejection; denied a claim it was in discussions with a rival; and now announced some big changes in its property and casualty operations.

The organisational restructure will see SCOR’s global P&C business focussing on the areas of reinsurance, specialty insurance, and P&C partners. In line with the new structure, the following appointments have been made:

  • Jean-Paul Conoscente – chief executive of reinsurance, the core business of SCOR global P&C;
  • Umberto Gavazzi – deputy CEO, reinsurance;
  • Sylvie Van Viet – CEO of the newly-created P&C partners business unit;
  • Vincent Foucart – deputy CEO, P&C partners, in charge of alternative solutions & technical development;
  • Adrian Jones – deputy CEO, P&C partners, for P&C ventures & strategic partnerships;
  • Laurent Rousseau – CEO of specialty insurance, in addition to being deputy CEO of SCOR global P&C and a member of the group’s executive committee.

Conoscente joined SCOR in 2008; Gavazzi, 1988; Van Viet, 1997; Foucart, 2009; Jones, 2016; and Rousseau 2010.

As for SCOR’s global life operations, Brona Magee has moved from the position of client solutions head to deputy CEO. She joins the group’s executive committee as part of her new designation.

Meanwhile changes are also taking place on a group level, with Xavier Savigny being named group head of human resources and transformation, as well as Michael Nguyen assuming the role of group head of operations strategy & project office.
