Marine liability insurer UK P&I Club has strengthened its loss prevention team with the addition of former Royal Navy officer George Devereese.

Devereese joins the shipping mutual insurer as a loss prevention advisor in the UK capital. He comes from Edge Brokers London where he handled a wide variety of marine claims.

“I am pleased to be taking on this role within the Club and look forward to contributing to the excellent work done by the team,” he said.

Devereese has more than a decade of experience in the insurance and shipping industries. Before moving to insurance, he held managerial roles at CMA CGM, the world’s third largest shipping company.

For more than seven years, he served as an officer at the Royal Navy, where he was primarily involved in navigating ships using a range of radar systems and satellite navigation equipment.

“George brings a wealth of shipping knowledge and experience to the team and is a welcome addition to our international operations,” loss prevention and ship inspections director Stuart Edmonston commented on the latest hire.

“UK P&I Club’s ground-breaking loss prevention programme is committed to safety and offsetting rising claims among members,” he added.
