Active cyber insurer Coalition has announced the appointment of Laura Stewart as the company's inaugural UK claims leader.

Stepping into the role of claims counsel, her professional journey spans notable positions at DAC Beachcroft and Ernst & Young, culminating in a recent tenure at the US-based Morrison Foerster law firm. There, she played a pivotal role in assisting clients with matters related to data protection, privacy issues, cyber incidents, negotiation, and security awareness training.

As per her LinkedIn, Stewart has offered her expertise to a diverse clientele, from small British enterprises to large multinational corporations. Additionally, she possesses significant experience in handling insurance claims and coverage disputes.

Stewart will be based in Coalition's London office, where she will play an instrumental role in advancing the company's cyber incident response and claims support capabilities for UK clients.

“Coalition’s Active Insurance is a unique solution that helps clients before, during, and after a cyber event,” Stewart said. “I am delighted to join Coalition at such an exciting time and look forward to helping policyholders when they need it most. Having acted as breach response counsel for many clients throughout my career, I understand how important it is for organisations to be well-prepared for an incident and to be able to react quickly. I look forward to working with brokers to ensure their clients are prepared, and I will help ensure policyholders receive an exceptional claims service.”

“Laura’s expertise in supporting clients through an incident will prove invaluable to our policyholders and brokers. Her understanding of what steps can be taken pre-incident to improve outcomes will give clients even more confidence in the Active Cyber Insurance proposition. Her added leadership to our UK cyber claims team demonstrates Coalition’s continued investment in our UK expansion,” Coalition UK head of insurance Tom Draper said.
