H.W. Kaufman Group, the parent company of Burns & Wilcox, has today announced its acquisition of Node International, a managing general agent (MGA) dedicated to digital, cyber and technology-related insurance and reinsurance solutions.

London, UK-based Node International says its mission is to “stay on the very frontline of technological change … to ensure that emerging digital risks, through technological innovation, are adequately insured and protected against”.

The MGA, which was founded by CEO Neil Gurnhill in 2017, will join Kaufman Group’s global network of companies in London, marking the 20th acquisition by Kaufman since 2010. Gurnhill will continue to lead the company as it joins the Kaufman network.

“Node International’s leadership in cyber risk and technology solutions will deepen our bench of expertise, helping us stay ahead of the ever-changing needs in the digital space,” said Alan Jay Kaufman, chairman, president and CEO, H.W. Kaufman Group. “The acquisition strategically provides our clients and partners across the United Kingdom and North America access to Node International’s innovative cyber products and quick quoting platform.”

The MGA’s digital application process can turn around accurate cyber liability quotes in moments. Node International also has the capability to provide 24/7 monitoring and cyberattack risk mitigation – both extremely important value-added services in today’s ever-changing cyber risk landscape.

“Joining forces with H.W. Kaufman Group is a very exciting move for us and our clients,” said Gurnhill. “We will combine our expertise at Node in underwriting and placing risks in cyber and technology liability with the powerful brand, distribution, and infrastructure that H.W. Kaufman Group has to offer.”

As part of the deal, Node International will move its London operations to the H.W Kaufman Group location at One Minster Court, Mincing Lane, London EC3R 7AA, and retain its existing Nottingham location. The MGA will join H.W. Kaufman Group London—joining the likes of: Chesterfield Group, Lochain Patrick, Cranbrook Underwriting and Node International. The Group’s UK operations are led by managing director, James Stevenson.
