Pen Underwriting has appointed Robert Dobson (pictured) as marine claims manager.
During his career, Dobson has been responsible for handling and managing all types of marine claims - from hull machinery to cargo, liabilities and yacht - while improving control of claims through the provision of technical advice and expertise and working closely with underwriting teams.
Paul Hartley, co-managing director of marine at Pen Underwriting, said that Dobson’s experience, along with his technical expertise and knowledge will make him the ideal leader for marine claims within the company.
“Claims expertise has always been an essential part of Pen’s service proposition to best support our niche underwriting operations, and marine is now a significant and growing area of specialism within the wider business,” Hartley said. “Delivering a first-class claims service is not only important for our brokers and clients, but also our committed capacity partners who place their trust in us.”
Meanwhile, Dobson commented that he was excited to join a company with the ambition of disciplined, sustainable growth, where claims will play a major part.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with our marine underwriters across their niche areas of expertise as well as Pen’s wider claims division to continue delivering what our clients, colleagues and capacity need,” he added.
Last year, the company named Paul Wood as product lead – yachts for vessel product as part of its expansion into the global yacht insurance market. Wood has more than 15 years of marine underwriting experience and will supervise the development of coverage for yacht risks up to $10 million.
