There’s a new name at the top of one of the largest cargo portfolios in the London market, after XL Catlin named its new global practice leader for cargo.

Andrew Coutts is the man to take up that position, making the switch from Brit Global Specialty where he worked for nearly 10 years as cargo underwriter. In total he boasts more than 30 years’ experience in the cargo insurance industry having also held positions within multiple trade bodies such as the International Underwriting Association and the International Union of Marine Insurance.

“In this transitioning market, it is essential that we continue to build upon the high standards and consistent level of service our clients have come to expect from us,” said Robert McAdams, XL Catlin’s chief underwriting officer for global marine. “I am delighted to bring Andrew on board; his strong leadership and understanding of the market is exactly what we need to steer strategy for our cargo team globally.”

Coutts will be based in London and will work with clients and brokers globally.
