Astute Insurance Solutions (Astute) has today announced its acquisition of the property specialist Sandhouse Insurance, its first purchase since becoming part of the JMG Group in 2022.
In a Press release, Astute said the completion of the deal marks a “significant milestone” in its strategic growth initiatives, strengthening its advice-led service proposition. Led by Ian Mahoney (pictured right), Astute provides a raft of services for commercial and corporate clients across Northamptonshire and the UK.
Under the terms of the acquisition, Sandhouse MD Mark Weedon (pictured left) joins Astute’s 12-strong team Northampton-based team, bringing 45 years of industry experience and over 30 years of specialising in property insurance. Commenting on the deal, Weedon noted that apart from a name change to Astute Insurance Solutions, it will be business as usual for Sandhouse’s clients.
He added: “This deal allows us to scale our offering with access to additional industry expertise and enhanced placement options through JMG Group. I am excited for the next chapter.”
Mahony also commented on the deal and said Astute is “extremely pleased” that Weedon decided to join the business and to use his skills and experience in the property market to help enrich its offering and broaden the range of services it provides. He said the team is looking forward to building on already strong foundations to deliver even higher levels of client service.
JMG Group CEO, Nick Houghton added: “Sandhouse is a perfect fit into an already high-quality advice-led business looking after corporate clients. Sandhouse’s specialism in the property sector is an area we are looking to grow further, and Mark’s capability in this area will support our ambitions.”
